A Beautiful Wedding at The Woodlands Hotel, Leeds

Woodlands Hotel Leeds Wedding

The Woodlands Hotel is one of my favourite wedding venues in Leeds — elegant yet relaxed, with bright rooms, open lawns and a warmth that makes every celebration feel personal. It’s a wonderful space for storytelling photography — full of light, laughter, and natural moments.

Tracy & Gary’s late-summer wedding was exactly that — heartfelt, joyful, and surrounded by friends and family old and new. Tracy looked radiant, bouquet in hand, smiling all day as the celebrations unfolded. One of the most emotional moments came when Gary received a pencil-drawn portrait of his late mum — a thoughtful gift that brought quiet tears and smiles in equal measure.

The ceremony in the Drawing Room was full of love and laughter. As Tracy signed the register, she turned her phone to Skype her great-grandfather, sharing the moment with him in a perfectly modern family photograph. Afterwards, we enjoyed relaxed group shots and portraits on the terrace and lawns — everyone glowing in the soft light.

Speeches were touching and full of laughter, with surprise wedding singers bringing joyful chaos to the room. I photographed the whole story in just five hours — yet still delivered more than 800 images, each one filled with energy, warmth, and connection.

Days like this remind me why I love what I do: real people, real moments, and a setting that brings everything to life.

A Wonderful Wedding at The Woodlands Hotel Leeds

The Woodlands Hotel is easy to miss as you drive past, but once you arrive, it quietly opens up into a luxury boutique setting, surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. It’s easy to see why this has become one of my favourite wedding venues in Leeds. The bridal suite, bright and airy, is ideal for those soft, natural preparation moments filled with colour and anticipation.

Tracy and Gary chose this picturesque venue for their late summer wedding day. I began with a few photographs of the venue and ceremony room, capturing the calm before everything began, before heading up to join Tracy and her two bridesmaids.

The atmosphere was light, relaxed, and full of excitement. The happiness in the room was palpable — the kind you can feel as much as see. Soft pink bridesmaids’ dresses and Tracy’s white lace-topped gown were beautifully complemented by creamy white and pink rose bouquets, all coming together effortlessly in the morning light.

Downstairs, the groom and best man, both looking effortlessly cool in blue suits, waited for what would become one of the happiest ceremonies. There was a particularly touching moment too — Tracy’s grandad, unable to be there in person, was included through a Skype call. A simple but emotional connection that meant so much.

After the ceremony, we moved into group photographs and then some relaxed couple portraits, taking a little time away from the celebrations. There was also an emotional surprise for the groom, adding another layer to an already meaningful day.

As the wedding breakfast and speeches unfolded, the room filled with laughter, stories, and warmth. Then, just as the day seemed to settle, the energy lifted again — singing waiters brought the room to life, with guests quickly joining in, forming conga lines and filling the space with music and movement.
