Gemma & Danny’s Wedding Photography at Leeds Civic Hall and the Lost & Found Leeds Club
Gemma and Danny chose Leeds Civic Hall for their intimate September wedding — and the city couldn’t have been more perfect. Under deep blue skies and golden late-summer sunshine, it became the backdrop to a day filled with connection, colour, and emotion.
Surrounded by their closest family and friends, they said “I do” right in the heart of Leeds. I photographed their Leeds Civic Hall wedding in my relaxed, documentary style — capturing honest moments, gentle portraits, and real emotion as it unfolded naturally.
The golden owls, sweeping steps, and bright stone of this iconic city landmark gave the celebration a real sense of occasion, without ever losing the warmth and intimacy that defined their day. As a Leeds wedding photographer, it’s always a joy to photograph weddings here — especially ones as full of heart as Gemma and Danny’s.

A beacon watching over Gemma and Danny’s joyful start.
The Civic Hall, Leeds — Grand, Iconic, and Full of Heart
Leeds Civic Hall is one of the city’s most iconic wedding venues — a place where striking white stone, golden owls, and timeless architecture meet real, human stories. It’s grand and full of character, yet it never overshadows what truly matters: the people, the emotions, and the small, unscripted moments that make every wedding unique.
As a documentary-style wedding photographer based in Leeds, I’m always drawn to those quiet in-between moments — the glances, the laughter, the nervous smiles — the things that happen naturally when you forget the camera is there. My approach is simple and honest: no tricks, no forced posing, just photography that feels real and true to the day.
Even surrounded by the Civic Hall’s impressive scale and history, Gemma & Danny’s wedding felt deeply personal — full of warmth, joy, and connection. And that’s exactly what I love about photographing here: no matter how grand the setting, it always comes back to the people and the story they create together.

Time stands still as the city prepares for love.

Solid, timeless pillars framing a day full of promise.

Quiet moments of connection before the ceremony begins.
An Intimate Wedding Ceremony at Leeds Civic Hall, Overlooking Millennium Square
Gemma and Danny chose to keep things beautifully simple — close family, a handful of dear friends, and a setting filled with meaning. Their intimate ceremony at Leeds Civic Hall was full of warmth and emotion, the kind of celebration that proves small weddings can still carry enormous heart.
From Gemma’s relieved “phew” as she reached Danny, to the proud smiles and gentle glances they shared, nothing felt staged or rehearsed. It was just two people, completely themselves, surrounded by love in one of the city’s most iconic spaces.
As a candid Leeds wedding photographer, I don’t follow a strict shot list or try to orchestrate the day. I let moments unfold naturally — and that’s when the real magic happens. One of the most touching scenes came as Danny’s young son, overwhelmed with emotion, wrapped his arms tightly around his dad as they left the ceremony, with Gemma smiling softly by his side.
It’s moments like these — real, fleeting, deeply human — that tell the true story of a wedding day. And they’re exactly the kind of memories I love to capture, honestly and without interruption.

Documentary Leeds Civic Hall Wedding Photographer
I’ve photographed several weddings at Leeds Civic Hall, and no two have ever been the same. Each one has its own rhythm, its own light, and its own story — but they all share that unmistakable warmth this venue brings. There’s something timeless about the way the sunlight falls across those grand white steps, how laughter echoes through Millennium Square, and how every couple adds a new chapter to the building’s history.
That’s what I love most about working here. My approach is always calm and unobtrusive, focused on capturing the real story as it unfolds — not staged or rehearsed, but honest, natural, and full of life.

Wedding Portraits at Leeds Civic Hall and Millennium Square
The sun stayed high above Millennium Square all day — the kind of golden September light you dream of for a city wedding. I never hide couples from the light; I embrace it. Sunshine brings honesty and energy into every frame, and it suited Gemma perfectly. Even her sunflower bouquet felt like a quiet reflection of the glowing day ahead.
We began their portraits on the steps of Leeds Civic Hall, four trees framing the moment and Leeds Town Hall rising softly in the distance. No filters, no staging — just real colour, real warmth, and the story as it truly was.
For me, this is what wedding photography at Leeds Civic Hall is all about — keeping things real, joyful, and full of life. One of my favourite moments from Gemma and Danny’s day was watching them lean together over a street piano, part of the Leeds Piano Festival, heads close and laughing in the sunshine. It’s those small, unexpected scenes — right in the middle of a city I love photographing — that make every story here feel personal and completely unique.

Set right in the heart of Leeds, Civic Hall is always a joy to photograph — and it made the perfect backdrop for Gemma & Danny’s joyful city wedding. With its golden owls, sweeping steps, and light-filled rooms, it has a real sense of occasion, yet still feels warm and welcoming when filled with the people who matter most.
As a Leeds city centre wedding photographer, I always love returning here. On days like this — with blue skies above, laughter in the air, and so much love in every frame — Leeds Civic Hall feels every bit as alive as the people who gather within it.

Early Evening Moments and a Perfect Finish at the Lost & Found Leeds Club
By the time we arrived at the Lost & Found Leeds Club, the champagne was already flowing and the mood was effortless. I moved through the space quietly, capturing a mix of honest, personality-filled group photos — never staged, just people enjoying themselves in this beautiful Leeds wedding venue.
Upstairs, the reception room looked timeless, waiting to welcome everyone in. A little later, I stepped outside with the family for a natural group shot on the steps — the light had softened into gold, giving the photos a real sense of warmth. One of my favourite impromptu shots came on the grand staircase: no distortion, no fuss, just instinct and the right lens.
As evening settled in, the pace slowed. Guests took their seats, conversations grew easy, and I caught my final frame of the day — their son, head resting on the table, tired but happy after a day full of love and laughter.
These are the moments I treasure most as a Leeds wedding photographer — the real, the fleeting, and the beautifully unplanned.

Why I Love Photographing Here
Since registrar weddings moved here from Leeds Town Hall, Leeds Civic Hall has become the beating heart of city-centre ceremonies. It’s one of those venues that feels grand and iconic without ever losing its warmth — white stone columns, golden owls, and sweeping steps make every frame feel timeless.
I’ve photographed many weddings here, and no two have ever felt the same. Whether it’s a tiny ceremony of four in the West Room or a joyful celebration in the Banquet Hall, the light, architecture, and emotion always come together beautifully. Even a simple walk through Millennium Square afterwards can lead to some of my favourite portraits of the day.
Leeds Civic Hall — A Landmark in the Heart of the City
Leeds Civic Hall is a Grade II* listed building right in the centre of Leeds, known for its striking white stone façade, golden owl statues, and elegant pillars overlooking Millennium Square. It’s become one of the city’s most popular places to get married since registrar weddings moved here from Leeds Town Hall.
There are three ceremony spaces to choose from, each with its own character. The West Room is ideal for small, intimate ceremonies — even as few as four people (just the couple and two witnesses). The Conference Room seats up to 60 guests and offers a bright, elegant backdrop, while the Banquet Hall can host up to 90 people beneath its high ceilings and classical detailing.
For couples planning a simple legal ceremony, the Civic Hall even offers ceremonies from £57 on the last Monday of each month — an affordable way to make things official in a truly iconic location. Step outside and you’ll find the sweeping square, the Town Hall tower in the distance, and all the city’s energy waiting just beyond the steps.
