Chevin Country Park Hotel Wedding — Feydrah & Dean’s Summer Celebration

  • By Tim Christian Jones

Feydrah & Dean’s summer wedding at Chevin Country Park Hotel & Spa unfolded in the heart of the Chevin hills, surrounded by woodland, water, and the calm of late August light.

As a Leeds wedding photographer, Chevin is one of those places that always feels naturally relaxed — a setting where the pace slows down, allowing real moments to come through without interruption. From the quiet arrival through to the celebrations later in the day, everything felt easy and unforced.

With warm summer weather, gentle movement through the grounds, and a laid-back atmosphere across the hotel and lakeside spaces, the whole day had a calm, documentary rhythm to it — exactly the kind of wedding that suits a natural storytelling approach.

Relaxed Morning Preparations at Chevin Country Park Hotel, Otley

The day began with relaxed preparation moments in one of the woodland lodges at Chevin Country Park Hotel & Spa, tucked among the trees above Otley. There were smiles from the start, with a calm atmosphere that made everything feel easy and unhurried.

Photographing in natural light and blending in quietly like a guest, I captured the genuine glances, laughter, and interaction as the morning unfolded. The couple’s two daughters stole the show on more than one occasion — full of personality, excitement, and those little moments that bring so much life to a wedding morning.

Soft light reflected from the greenery outside into the lodge, creating a beautiful backdrop for the details of the morning. The bridal dress and bridesmaids’ dresses hung ready by the window, while a mix of colour and monochrome photography helped tell the story naturally as it happened.

With a little help, the bride stepped into her dress while the final preparations came together around her. Once those quieter moments were captured, everyone made their way along the tree-lined pathways through the grounds towards the main building at Chevin Country Park Hotel — a lovely, relaxed start to a summer wedding in this beautiful corner of West Yorkshire, just outside Leeds.

An Emotional Wedding Ceremony at Chevin Country Park Hotel

Guests gathered in the ceremony room at Chevin Country Park Hotel as the final preparations came together. Grey suits, fresh flowers, and soft natural light gave the space a calm elegance before the ceremony began. I spent a few quiet moments with Dean and his groomsmen, capturing those thoughts just before everything started — that mix of anticipation, nerves, and excitement that always settles in before the entrance.

Three bridesmaids led the way, followed by the couple’s two daughters as flower girls, bringing smiles from everyone in the room. Then Feydrah entered arm in arm with her father, creating one of those moments where everything briefly slows. Dean’s emotion was written all over his face as he saw her for the first time.

The ceremony itself was full of warmth and happiness. Feydrah handed her bouquet to her smiling father before taking Dean’s hands, and from that moment the nerves gave way to laughter, emotion, and so many lovely reactions between them. Their little ring bearer played his part perfectly, adding even more personality to the ceremony.

After the vows came the first kiss, followed by congratulations from family and friends as they were officially married. The signing was full of smiles too, before Feydrah and Dean walked back down the aisle together to a warm welcome from their guests. Champagne was waiting as everyone spilled outside into the sunshine, drinks in hand, ready for the celebrations to continue in the grounds of Chevin Country Park Hotel.

Champagne in the Gardens at Chevin Country Park Hotel

After the ceremony, everyone made their way outside onto the decking and into the gardens at Chevin Country Park Hotel. Feydrah and Dean shared a quiet moment together overlooking the grounds — a chance to pause, take it all in, and enjoy those first moments as newlyweds.

Guests gathered in the sunshine with champagne in hand, chatting, laughing, and enjoying canapés across the terrace. The atmosphere felt wonderfully relaxed, with children playing, glasses clinking, and conversations flowing naturally through the afternoon.

The changing summer light across the grounds created beautiful contrast throughout — perfect for both colour and monochrome photography. Bright highlights, soft shadows, and the rich greens of the trees gave everything a natural depth that suits Chevin so well.

We took a few relaxed group photographs before stepping away for some couple portraits beneath the avenue of trees. Moving between sunshine and shade, Feydrah and Dean had time together away from the crowd while the celebrations carried on around them — a lovely pause in the middle of a joyful summer wedding day.

The Wedding Breakfast at Chevin Country Park Hotel

Feydrah and Dean were welcomed into the wedding breakfast with a huge round of applause as they made their entrance through the room together — Feydrah smiling and pulling Dean along between the tables while family and friends cheered them in. It felt playful, joyful, and full of energy from the start.

Before long, the little ones had found their way onto the dance floor, bringing their own excitement to the room while guests settled in around them. The atmosphere stayed relaxed and social throughout, with people moving between inside and out, making the most of the warm summer weather across the grounds at Chevin.

Guests gathered around the hot buffet before drifting back to their tables, while others stepped outside into the sunshine for a drink and conversation before the speeches began. It had that easy summer wedding rhythm — no rushing, just everyone enjoying the afternoon as it unfolded naturally.

The speeches brought plenty of laughter, especially when Feydrah’s parents shared a fun and slightly embarrassing photo montage filled with real family photographs — a lovely personal touch that had the whole room smiling. Between the laughter were quieter reactions too, with plenty of genuine moments to capture across the room.

Afterwards, we paused for a few portraits around the staircase at Chevin, using the spiral staircase for a simple monochrome moment together before capturing a few relaxed photographs with siblings nearby.

Early Evening Celebrations at Chevin Country Park Hotel

As the afternoon softened into early evening, guests drifted back outside into the warm light around the grounds of Chevin Country Park Hotel. These quieter transitions are often some of my favourite moments to photograph — conversations continuing, children running between tables and lawns, and guests relaxing as the pace of the day gently changes.

It’s a beautiful time for documentary wedding photography at Chevin. The softer evening light through the trees and across the gardens creates a lovely atmosphere for storytelling images, with moments unfolding naturally everywhere you look. Inside, the sweet table was ready for guests, while family photographs hung along strands of fairy lights outside — small personal details woven throughout the celebration.

Later in the evening everyone gathered back inside for the next part of the celebrations. Just before the cake cutting came the bouquet toss, bringing plenty of laughter and anticipation, before Feydrah and Dean made their way onto the dance floor together for their first dance.

Confetti rained down around them as family and friends cheered them on — a joyful moment to end the formalities before the dance floor filled for the evening celebrations. The music carried on late into the night, with laughter, dancing, and the little ones once again stealing the show — a perfect finish to a relaxed summer wedding at Chevin Country Park Hotel, just outside Leeds in the heart of West Yorkshire.

Closing Thoughts

Feydrah & Dean’s wedding unfolded with a calm, natural rhythm — moving from the traditional setting of St Oswald’s Church in Guiseley into the woodland surroundings of Chevin Country Park Hotel & Spa. It had that gentle summer flow where the day feels unhurried, and moments are allowed to happen in their own time.

Set within the Chevin Hills above Otley, this part of West Yorkshire has long been shaped by woodland, open walking routes and wide valley views. In late summer, it becomes especially atmospheric — soft light filtering through the trees, still water around the lake, and a quiet sense of space that suits relaxed, natural wedding celebrations.

This wedding sits within a wider collection of stories photographed at Chevin Country Park Hotel & Spa and across the surrounding area — from woodland ceremonies to lakeside celebrations — gathered together in my Chevin Country Park Hotel weddings archive.
