Satin Dress, February Light, Close Friends, family, and a Jazz Band
Simonstone Hall Wedding!
Alison & Hamish chose Simonstone Hall Hotel for a February wedding in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales — a day that felt relaxed, personal, and completely their own.
Set just outside Hawes, the hotel looks out across rolling hills and open moorland. In winter, there’s a stillness to the place — softer light, cooler air, and a slower pace that suits smaller, more intimate celebrations beautifully.
With around forty of their closest family and friends there, the day had a lovely balance to it. Enough people to fill the rooms with laughter and conversation, but still small enough to feel connected — where everyone knows each other, and nothing feels lost in the crowd.
The day wasn’t about scale or spectacle. It was about the people around them, and the moments that naturally unfolded in between. Conversations over coffee, quiet laughter during the morning, and that gentle build into the ceremony itself — nothing rushed, nothing forced.

I’ve photographed weddings here with full rooms and big celebrations, but days like this always stay with me. When everything is a little more contained, you start to notice more — the way people look at each other, the pauses, the in-between moments that often pass unnoticed. That’s where the story really sits.
Simonstone Hall works so well for this kind of wedding. The interiors are warm and welcoming, a contrast to the open, wintry landscape outside. Step through the doors and everything softens again — a space where people can settle, be themselves, and enjoy the day without distraction.
As the light faded over the Dales, the day carried on in that same easy rhythm. Nothing staged, nothing overdone — just a wedding that felt honest, grounded, and full of meaning.
