Authentic & Timeless — Wedding Couple Portraiture

Individuality captured in every image — authentic couple photography that captures the connection between you just as it is — natural, relaxed, and full of personality. I’ll never take you away from your wedding guests for very long — thought couple’s often say how welcome this little break feels. My style remains as it has always been, to create images that you, your friends and family will love — images where you will see yourselves, and the happiness and emotion you share together.

Golden light, still water, and a world of their own.
A soft pause in the day — just the two of them.
Same couple smiling more widely in black and white by the lake.
Golden hour laughter and love by the water.
A moment as easy as a Sunday breeze.

The two portraits above would you believe that the night before, it rained a lot! The couple and their friends and family had slept in teepee-style tents on the grass. The next morning, the relief for them and myself was to see the incredible sunshine that greeted us for a perfect wedding day.

These images were captured in what is known as ‘The Golden Hour’ the beautiful light as the sun slowly sets. As always no editing or adjustments needed. My couple portraiture is truly authentic and timeless.

Sam & Tim stood in the woods at KP Club, natural light between the trees.
Among the trees where the light gently falls,
Sam & Tim found stillness and warmth.

Can you see how Sam & Tim’s Couple Portrait above shows their personality? When couples feel comfortable and almost forget the camera, this is when moments like this are captured. At the KP Club, Pocklington, this was taken in the woodland area, next to the venue. You can also see their KP Club wedding gallery here in my ‘Real Weddings’ page.

Bride holds her bouquet and dress in black and white by the river at Golden Acre Park.
By woodland water she lifts her hem —
quiet beauty by the river’s bend.

A place I love to visit often, Golden Acre Park in Leeds The couple had planned this beforehand and told their guests, so no one was wondering where they were. We spent about 30 minutes at a few locations around the park, this captured in black and white tells the story perfectly. Leeds Cathedral / St George’s Church was the perfect place for their wedding ceremony.

Couple pause by a vintage car near green trees, flowers and fountain in soft colours.
Just arrived, but time stands still —
vintage charm meets fresh beginnings.
Bride and groom nose to nose by the wedding car in soft green summer tones.
Soft sunlight, softer smiles —
a quiet pause by the car.
Groom kisses bride’s shoulder in a hidden garden filled with green trees and flowers.
A secret path, a quiet kiss —
summer’s colour wraps them close.

Three photos above first, as they arrived at the venue, the final image taken in a hidden garden at the edge of the venue. I was away from them using an 85mm Portrait lens, which pulls the background close, a mix of flora and fauna, in an image full of personality.

Couple kiss on a small patch of grass, wind in her hair and leaves in motion.
Wind in the branches, love in the air —
a kiss caught in the stillness of movement.

A small square of grass just outside the venue gates the wind blowing the leaves, and the bride’s hair, creating a timeless purist image full of life.

Couple smile widely on the steps of their red double decker wedding bus.
City smiles, bus-top bliss,
a red ride and a love that’s all joy, no fuss.
Same couple outside the barn in early evening, smiling naturally.
Evening light wraps them warm and bright.
Relaxed and calm by stone walls’ quiet might.

A wonderful couple, so easy to photography the bride smiled all day! This photo taken in the early evening, outside the barn venue they chose perfectly hosting their relaxed and casual wedding reception.

Groom smiles nervously in October sunshine near a water feature at a historic venue.
A nervous smile in autumn light —
history and heart in quiet balance.

I photographed my brother’s wedding down south the bride, his colleague saw his storybook album and asked if I could travel down again for their October wedding. This taken about 4pm as the October sun was setting. They were equally happy with how I captured their day with the same tireless approach.

Classic black and white couple portrait taken through a stone tunnel.
Framed by stone and shadowed light —
a timeless portrait in monochrome.
Calla lily bouquet close-up with couple and soft greenery in background.
Elegance in every detail —
a bouquet held in quiet hands.

A classic bouquet of Cala Lilies — a classically elegant couple. Your portraits will reflect everything about you — no boxes to stand on, or same poses from previous weddings. Nothing outside your comfort zone — just storytelling images that will remain timeless throughout the years you share together, and for new generations too.

Couple smiling as they drive through venue gates, ready to pause for portraits.
Through the gates with joy ahead —
a smile, a glance, the story begins.
Couple walk down a narrow road, smiling at each other with car in distance.
Down the road and into forever —
a look shared, simple and true.

Countryside wedding, with a little rain, but plenty of smiles — Her father’s classic car was a proud addition to the day and to a few of their photos. I always know I have done my job, when I see real smiles and the confidence to just be yourselves.
